McMellon has recently purchased several machining centers. The Kitamura Vertical Machining Center, purchased in 2001, is built to perform at high rpm. This machine allows us to machine smaller parts and drill smaller holes. This new machine and others, have allowed us to start on new work that were were not able to do before.
In 1999 we purchased a 40 taper Mori Seiki machining center. This machine is one of our most versital machining centers, having a higher range rpm, but the rigidity of a larger machine.
In the summer of 2005 McMellon purchased a 50 taper Mori Seiki machining center. This machining center replaces some of our older slower machining centers with a much more reliable and sturdy machine, along with improving our productivity. Also, being a 50 taper machine, which makes it more rigid with the tooling, this machine takes on our larger milling responsiblities.
